Every morning, die-hard fans rush a small cottage in Saugus, queuing up for a chance to snag one of its signature items. A longtime cult favorite among donut connoisseurs, Kane’s Donuts is now giving Bostonians the same sugar rush.
“If you come to Kane’s, you’re definitely in for a treat,” promises co-owner Maria Delios.
Opened in 1955 by the namesake family and bought by the Delios in 1988, Kane’s had along history for the Delios family to build on once they took over.

Located in the Financial District, the new eatery has a light and relaxing scent (a delightful precursor to the sugar coma you may face after eating one of their sweeter options) and a menu that borders on the overwhelming. Try out the hibiscus or maybe the Reese's Peanut butter Cup or possibly Snickers flavor.
The Boston store, dubbed Kane’s Handcrafted Donuts, serves up high quality donuts and other baked goods, with a price to match.
“You’re going to get flavors you can’t get anywhere else, that’s what we do,” says Delios.
Much like the cronut craze of 2013, Kane’s might be home to the new trendy treat: the dowich. That’s right, it’s a donut and a sandwich, and it’s only available at their Boston store. The dowiches are more savory than their sugary breakfast cousins: Pulled pork, donut-wrapped lobster rolls andbraised beef all make appearances on the menu.
Throughout the years, the Kane’s team has kept their culinary secrets all in the family. Now, five siblings share the business, making expansion a logical choice, and Boston, or, “the heart of Massachusetts,” as Delios calls it, was the perfect place to set up shop.
And so far, Bostonians aren’t shy about their love for Kane’s — within the first few hours of business, the new shop was completely sold out.
When asked what the most popular item is, there is no question in Delios’ mind: “Definitely our honey dip donut. Bon Appétit Magazine, Travel and Leisure… Everyone who tastes them just goes nuts for ‘em!”
