Man accused of fatal Mattapan hit-and-run arraigned Monday morning

A Dorchester man was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court on Monday for a fatal hit and run accident that took the life of an 8-year-old girl and injured a12-year-old boy Saturday night in Mattapan .

The suspect was identified as James Horton, 45. He was charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly fleeing from the West Selden Street accident.

The District Attorney’s Office said Horton was held on a $500,000 cash bail and must wear a GPS device if he is released prior to trial. Horton is next due in court on July 13.
