A Dorchester man caught shoplifting at Macy’s was busted for more than stolen merchandise on Sunday.
Police were called to department store on Washington Street after receiving a report of a man trespassing and shoplifting — and who happened to be packing a pistol, officials said.
Macy’s loss prevention security team had stopped the man, Dwayne Mincey, 40, and held him in their office at about 2:15 p.m. Personnel told police that they recovered a Smith & Wesson .38 Special on him along with two bags of a substance thought to be marijuana.During the booking process, police later found 16 more bags of a green leafy substance and a scale. Mincey was charged with shoplifting, weapons possession and drug possession with intent to distribute.
