Man charged with heroin trafficking after stopped on I-93

Troopers and a K-9 partner discovered the drugs in a "secret compartment" of the vehicle.

A Lawrence man was charged with heroin trafficking aftertroopers discovered two kilograms of heroin in a "secret compartment" of his car, state police said.

Trooper Daniel Hartley stopped the man on Monday on I-93 in Stoneham after the trooper observed him driving erratically.

The man first identified himself as Rolando Garcia and stated that he had no license. Officials said that hegave a fake ID and was subsequentlyplaced under arrest.

During booking at the state police barracks in Medford, fingerprint results showed that Garcia was actually Elias Suarez-Guerrero, a 29-year-old Lawrence man, authorities said.

Hartley, along with Trooper David Nims and his K-9 parner Echo, further investigated Suarez-Guerroro's vehicle and found the drugs in a secret compartment.
