A New Bedford man was reportedly sentenced to four to five years in prison, followed by two years of probation, for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend on a busy highway in 2014.
Luis Cirino, 29, was convicted of strangulation, intimidation and aggravated assault and battery, according to the Associated Press.
Police said they responded to a report of two people fighting on the side of a busy highway on Route 24 in December of 2014, according to the report. The victim was reportedly thrown to the grown had her hair pulled and showed red marks consistent with strangulation on her neck.
