A Braintree man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing during a melee that erupted in the upper balcony of the TD Garden during Wednesday night’s Celtics game.

Brandon Jones, 20, now faces charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. A massive brawl erupted in the nosebleeds around 9:45 p.m. During the fracas, police said a male victim in his early twenties suffered what appeared to be a stab wound. He was transported to Mass General Hospital but his injuries were considered to be non-life threatening.

Jones is expected to be arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court.

“Today’s arrest should send a strong, clear message to any fan who attends a game in our city and thinks it’s okay to engage in the type of violent behavior on display during last night’s game,” said Police Commissioner William Evans. “If you go to a game and hurt or harm a fellow fan, we’re going to find you and make you accountable for your actions.
