Mass. corrections officer arrested for trafficking heroin

A corrections officer at MCI-Bridgewater was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after state police caught him attempting to sell heroin in an undercover operation.

Stephen Lebreux, 40, a resident of Swansea, was arrested in Somerset after 4 p.m. on Tuesday following a weeks-long investigation, Massachusetts State Police reported. He was arrested when he arrived to sell heroin to an undercover officer.

An undercover state trooper had previously made several heroin buys from Lebreux while Lebreux was off-duty from his officer duties at the prison, the state police added.

Authorities charged Lebreux with heroin trafficking, Boston.com stated in a related report, adding that he is expected to be arraigned at Fall River District Court on Wednesday.

Authorities also reported that the investigation was conducted by the Massachusetts State PoliceGang Unit withassistance from the FBI.
