The MBTA blames a mechanical problem for leaving a commuter train powerless on the tracks for over an hour late Monday night.
On the commuter rail’s Kingston-Plymouth line, a train was stopped between the Braintree and South Weymouth stations around 10 p.m. Monday, WHDH reported, adding that the MBTA posted alerts on Twitter, claiming the delay could be as long as 80 minutes. The MBTA finally had to bring in another train to help get the stalled one to Kingston, where it arrived at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, WHDH added.
