Children safe after mother found dead in Mattapan apartment

Three young children are safe this weekend after their mother was found dead in a Mattapan apartment, police said.

Relatives broke down the apartment door around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the woman, who is believed to be in her 20s, did not respond to calls, WHDH reported.

The children, who are all under age 5, were in shock but uninjured. They were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Police are investigating that cause of death and have not released the woman’s name.
