The mother of a 3-month-old baby faces several charges — including drunk driving—after she allegedly caused a rollover crash in Dorchester on Sunday, CBS Boston reported.
The 28-year-old woman, who has not been identified, reportedly crashed and flipped her car, which had the newborn inside, near Vinson and Marlowe streets around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday after hitting a parked van.
According to investigators, the woman had an open container in a passenger area.
“Charges will be sought against her for negligent operation, having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and driving under the influence,” police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire told the Boston Herald, who also explained that the exact cause of the accident was still being investigated.
The Boston Herald also reported that the Department of Children and Families has taken the newborn into custody.
The woman, who has yet to be arrested, will be charged with negligent operation, operating under the influence, and having an open container in a passenger area, CBS Boston reported.
