A reputed gang member who escaped federal custody in Somerville Friday morning has been caught.
Gabriel Castillo Perez, 18, was being transported at about 6 a.m. when he escaped during a Homeland Security sweep, officials said. He is a known MS-13 gang member.
Though he wasn't armed and was handcuffed when he got loose, police said he wasn't believed to be a threat to the community at the brief time he was at large.
At about 12 p.m., the Somerville Police arrested Perez without incident.
