Olympic champion Aly Raisman will be welcomed home after her reign in Rio with a rally in Needham this Saturday.
Raisman’s hometown will hold the “Rally for Aly” in the Town Common on Aug. 27, beginning at 11 a.m.
Though her welcome-home celebration after the 2012 London Olympics had the gymnast display her medals in a parade, this year’s celebration won’t have Raisman waving from a float. “It’s really going to be a more intimate setting,” Needham town official Sandy Cincotta told WBZ. “We’d like to have her tell us more about herself.” In the Rio Olympics, 22-year-oldRaismanwon gold in the team gymnastic event and two silver medals in the individual all-around and the floor exercise.
