The Patriots are taking a hard look at what former Colts superstar receiver Reggie Wayne has left in the tank. Wayne arrived in New England Saturday night was expected to take a physical Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
It's not the first time the Patriots have attempted to pick up some scraps left over from past Indy-New England wars. The Pats signed fellow wide receiver Austin Collie in 2013 after he starred with the Colts from 2009-12. Collie caught six balls for 63 yards in seven games that season for the Patriots.
The 36-year-old Wayne took a backseat to T.Y. Hilton in Indianapolis the past few years as Andrew Luck's favorite target. Wayne put up a 1,000-plus receiving campaign together as recently as the 2012 season but caught only 64 balls for 779 yards last season in Indy. Wayne had seven straight 1,000-plus yard receiving seasons from 2004 to 2010.
