The Patriots moved one step closer to securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC Sunday night, downing the Chargers, 23-14, in San Diego.

New England is now 10-3 on the season with three games remaining, all against AFC East opponents.

Tom Brady’s 69-yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman off a slant in the fourth quarter ultimately gave the Patriots the victory. Edelman had 141 yards receiving on eight catches.

The Patriots defense shutout the Chargers in the second half. DarrelleRevis was once again fabulous for New England as Philip Rivers threw at the cornerback just once. Rivers threw for just 189 yards and was intercepted by Akeem Ayers.
