Arlington police and fire crews declared a hazmat situation after they found a person dead from cyanide poisoning. The man, who has not been identified yet, was found in the basement of a home near the corner of Rockmount and Richfield roads near Arlington High School.
Arlington police responded to a well-being check at about 3:00 p.m. on Friday, and determined that hazardous materials, specifically cyanide, contributed to the man’s death.
According to a statement from the Arlington Police, hazmat teams have determined that the public is not in any danger. The investigation is ongoing.
