It wouldn’t be December without the Red Sox making a splash, and that splashturned into a tidal wave Tuesday afternoon as Dave Dombrowski landed White Sox ace Chris Sale – according to FOX’s Ken Rosenthal.

Chicago GM Rick Hahn made it clear the asking price was high and it looks as though that’s the case. Prized prospects Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech are said to be involved in the deal.Hahn spoke about a potential Sale swap earlier this week.

“When you have negotiations with other clubs about potential trade fits, you have to have that line you aren’t going to go below; otherwise you’re compromising too much in terms of value,” Hahn told ESPN this week. “What we’re looking to do is put ourselves in the position for extended success. We do that by acquiring as much talent as we can over an extended period.

“You’ve seen what [Sale] has done over the years,” Hahn said. “We realized this is an elite-level talent. A rare commodity in this league.”

No word yet on if Andrew Benintendi and/orRafael Deverswere involved in the blockbuster swap but Rosenthal said that two other prospects were headed to Chicago.
