Stun gun-wielding man goes on SE Mass. robbery spree, remains at large

Police are working to find a robber using a stun gun who is suspected of hitting five stores in southeastern Massachusetts during a recent robbery spree.

In the past two weeks, a man in a hood and mask has robbed stores in Fairhaven, New Bedford and Taunton, WCVB reported. The most recent robbery was at Pete’s Mart in Taunton on Wednesday night.

“Even if you are a licensed gun holder, you cannot possess a stun gun,” Fairhaven Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza told Rhode Island’s WPRI. “This type of behavior is obviously very reckless. It’s high risk and hopefully nobody does get hurt.”

Police have said that the suspect has also been armed with a knife during the robbery spree, WCVB added.

Robin Ahmad, whose cousin was working at his store in New Bedford when it was robbed last week, said, “The guy came in with a black shirt, black gloves, with the mask, and with a stun gun and knife,” WPRI reported. The robber got away with hundreds of dollars in that incident.
