"At this time, it does not appear to be a random act," Essex District Attorney Spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said to CBS Boston.
The man, whose identity has not been made public, was said to be in his 20s, CBS Boston reported, adding that he was shot on Chestnut Street before running into the road and collapsing near an MBTA bus.
