The Boston Police are warning people to be on the lookout for a dangerous person commiting sexual assaults in Southie.

Police responded to a report of an assault at about 7:24 p.m. on Wednesday. A woman told police that at 1:47 a.m. that morning, she heard someone walking behind her on Mayhew Street. She turned around in time to see a man grab her buttocks and then flee on Boston Street towards Columbia Road and dip down a side street. He was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male in his late 20’s standing about 5’10”, medium build wearing khakis cargo shorts, white tennis shoes, a hoodie and a gray hat.

This is not the first instance to be reported in the Mayhew/Boston Street area. A woman said she was assaulted last week near Boston and Mayhew streets around 3 a.m. Saturday by a man who approached her from behind, police said Wednesday. The suspect then fled on foot down Mayhew Street back toward Boston Street, police said.

The description of the suspect matched the one the woman gave on Wednesday.
