Three people were killed in two separate overnight car crashes in Quincy and Saugus.
Around 1:30 a.m. in Quincy, a Mercedes crashed into a tree and caught fire on Route 28, WCVB reported. The driver and a front-seat passenger were trapped and suffered fatal injuries, but authorities managed to take the backseat passenger to Boston Medical Center. RELATED:Woman dragged three miles by hit-and-run SUV In a separate incident at approximately 4:30 a.m., a Volvo station wagon flipped onto its roof in the northbound lanes of Route 1 in Saugus, CBS has reported.

The cause of that crash remains unclear, CBS added.
