A Lawrence, Mass. who socked a woman -- and doused her with pepper spray -- after she allegedly hit him followed the letter of the law.
So says an internal probe that cleared P.O. Claudio Camacho for his actions in the early morning hours of March 3, 2013, outside Rio Bar and Grill.
The woman, Yanil Henriquez, of Lawrence, is still suing Camacho and the city in federal court.
Acting Police Chief James Fitzpatrick found in his report that Henriquez started the whole thing, reports The Eagle-Tribune. She wouldn’t follow Camacho’s order to move and hit him in the face when he tried to cuff her.
Charges against the woman, whose head hit the sidewalk, her suit says, were dismissed.
She is seeking $750,000. The Eagle-Tribune notes that six years ago, Camacho was accused of the same thing, costing Lawrence $55,000 to settle another woman’s claim.
