A State Trooper helped deliver a baby on Storrow Drive early this morning.

The trooper, Patrick Devin, was flagged down around 2:40 a.m. near the Mass Ave exit and told by the father of the child that a woman was about to give birth in his SUV. The father had pulled over and called 911 once it became clear that the birth was imminent.

Devin then helped deliver the baby. Once the baby boy was born, he told dispatch the baby was safe, wrapped the newborn in a blanket. Paramedics arrived soon thereafter and the parents, both Revere residents whose identities have not yet been released, were taken to Beth Israel Hospital.

Details were scarce this morning, but State Police said they may release more information about the birth later today.
