Bystanders leapt into the water at Arlington’s Spy Pond to save a woman whose SUV was sinking, police there said Friday.
A video camera was rolling as three people began swimming out to the woman’s Ford Edge around 1 p.m.
At one point in the footage, the car submergescompletely, and the driver — a 68-year-old Medford woman — surfaces.
She is seen being helped back to shore by the other swimmers.
Police said she accidentally drove the car into the water after attempting to back into a parking spot.
She was cold, but otherwise unhurt, police said.
The vehicle remains under water, and a dive team from the Cambridge Police Department will be checking to make sure there were no other victims solely “out of an abundance of caution,” a statement said. You can watch the video below.
