A Boston Police officer who was featured on the reality television show “Boston’s Finest”reportedly committed suicide Tuesday night.

The docudrama, produced by Dorchester native Donnie Wahlberg, first debuted in February. According to producers, the reality show takes an “up-close and very personal” look at officers in one of the oldest police departments in the nation, the Boston Police Department.

The officer was identified as Patrick Rogers, a Dorchester native who had been with the department for eight years. A memorial page has been set up on Facebook.

“I am so deeply saddened tonight. My thoughts and prayers go out to a fallen brother of The Boston Police Dept.,” Wahlberg tweeted Tuesday night.

Boston Police said the “unfortunate death of a member of the department,” was being investigated as a “non-homicide.”

The second season of the TNT show was set to debut last night at the Revere Hotel, however the screening was canceled when producers got word of the death. Mayor Tom Menino, interim police Commissioner William
Evans and members of the department who were also on the show had been expected to attend.
