Boy’s death ‘suspicious’: RCMP

The RCMP are releasing few details about the death of a toddler in Indian Brook, which is now being investigated as suspicious.

Indian Brook RCMP were dispatched to a residence on the reservation just before midnight on Friday, after receiving reports of a three-year old boy in cardiac arrest.

The boy, identified as Matthew James Raymond Peter-Paul, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the Colchester Regional Hospital.

According to RCMP spokesman Sgt. Joe Taplin, an autopsy was completed the next day and the circumstances surrounding the death have been deemed suspicious.

“The information gathered from the autopsy is not being released,” he said.

“But … (it) has led us to believe that the incident is suspicious in nature.”
