BPD sites hacked

The Boston Police Department has warned its officers that various websites used by members of the BPD were hacked into and possibly compromised.

The names, usernames and passwords of scores of officers who use the patrolmen’s union website were posted online Friday.

“In light of this information, the Boston Police Department is requiring all department personnel to secure their login information by resetting their passwords on the BPD network,” Boston Police said in a statement.

The group that hacked the websites, Anonymous, also posted documents that show personal information of officers in Alabama, according to SC Magazine, which covers news for IT security professionals.

Anonymous posted the documents as part of a national protest to stop police brutality, according to SC Magazine.

Boston Police told its employees that if any information is believed to be compromised that it should be reported and the region’s intelligence center would investigate.
