Iconic screen siren Brigitte Bardot is no stranger to controversy (especially for her anti-Islamic, anti-gay comments). In her latest act, the ardent animal rights activist threatened to become a Russian citizen in protest to the French government’s ruling on the lives of two elephants reports Reuters.
According to Reuters, the elephants, part of a touring circus are presumed to be carrying tuberculosis and have been ordered to be put down by a court in Lyon.
“If those in power are cowardly and impudent enough to kill the elephants… then I have decided I will ask for Russian nationality to get out of this country which has become nothing more than an animal cemetery,” said Bardot in a statement.
It’s your move, France.
