British betting houses have all the odds on the royal wedding, from Kate’s dress to the couple’s first dance

While many Brits are moaning and groaning over the cost of the Royal Wedding, Britain’s top betting houses are giving even the most disgruntled taxpayer a chance to make some money off the big day.

The bets range from safer — the sex of William and Kate’s first child — to a bit more outrageous (will Kate leave her prince at the altar?). If she does indeed play runaway bride, the payoff could be quite nice as betting house William Hill puts the odds of this at only 50:1.

Another royal long shot? That the couple will have their first dance to the Kings of Leon hit Sex on Fire, the odds of which are only 50:1, according to William Hill. The safest bet is for You’re Beautiful by James Blunt at 5:1 odds.

The tabloids won’t be the only ones hoping for a slew of royal faux pas come April 29, even though the odds seem stacked against them.

Ladbrokes places the odds of the Queen wearing a black hat to wedding at only 25:1. Another bet says 14:1 that Kate will give birth to their first child in 2011, meaning she became pregnant before walking down the aisle (or had a very premature delivery).
