Brockton stud highlights BC’s strong class of 2011

Playing true freshmen is never a college football coach’s favorite option. But for Boston College’s Frank Spaziani, necessity forced his hand in his first two seasons.

That appears to be the case again in Year 3, especially on defense. But with Brockton’s Albert Louis-Jean in the mix, it might also be by choice.

Louis-Jean, a 6-foot-1-inch defensive back, headlined BC’s signing day yesterday, with 23 recruits inking letters of intent. Louis-Jean, who originally committed to Miami (Fla.) but then switched to BC after Miami fired Randy Shannon, is the ninth-best defensive back in the nation, according to ESPN’s Scouts Inc.

“He’s certainly a very productive athlete, can play offense and defense, and he’s very skilled,” Spaziani said. “We were excited about getting him for all of those reasons.”

Louis-Jean is one of two recruits already enrolled at BC after graduating high school early. He will participate in spring practice and offseason conditioning.

With four four-star recruits and nine three-stars, BC’s recruiting class was ranked 35th overall.
