Bronx gunman in hiding allegedly re-emerges to steal Playstation

The NYPD is searching for a man suspected of committing a homicide last year then going into hiding before re-emerging last week to steal a Playstation in a daylight robbery and shooting.

Ruben “Chullo” Pizzaro, 23, was originally wanted by police in connection to a homicide on Nov. 24, but authorities are now refocusing their effort to find him after he is alleged to have committed a daytime New Year’s Eve robbery and shooting in Inwood. The incidents are unrelated except for Pizzaro’s suspected involvement in both, the NYPD said.

Regarding last November’s homicide, Pizzaro argued with David Rivera, 24, in the Tremont neighborhood in the Bronx, the police said. The argument escalated and ended with Pizzaro allegedly shooting Rivera four times as he tried to run from Pizzaro.

David was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas in the Bronx, and Pizzaro went into hiding after the shooting.

This past New Year’s Eve, Pizzaro, armed with a gun, is alleged to have carjacked a Ford van on Sherman Street in Inwood. He demanded that the driver take him to Elwood Street, where he confiscated the driver’s ID, jacket and debit card, according to police.

Pizzaro got out of the van, telling the driver to wait for him. He then robbed a bystander on Elwood Street, taking a backpack, which contained a Playstation4, before shooting the victim in the shoulder.

Pizzaro returned to the van and commanded the driver to take him to the Bronx, where he fled from the van, leaving the driver unharmed, police added.

The victim of the shooting was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.
