A Monday night assault in the Bronx ended with one man dead and another arrested after he allegedly killed an attacker who had assaulted his wife.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, police arrived at 1240 Washington Ave. in the Bronx, where they found an unconscious man, 43-year-old Earl Nash, with severe head and body trauma, police reported.

The victim was able to break free and call her husband, 61-year-old Mamadou Diallo, who was just outside their building, police said. When Diallo arrived upstairs, he encountered Nash in a hallway where he beat him to the point that Nash was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to authorities.
