Palmetto Playground (NYC Parks)
A Brooklyn Heights playground will be named for former Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch.
Park officials announced today that Palmetto Playground will be renamed Adam Yauch Park.
Officials will make it official tomorrow morning at the playground with Yauch’s parents and members of his family.
Yauch grew up on State Street in Brooklyn Heights and learned to ride a bike in the park that will now have his name, officials said.
He died of cancer at the age of 47 last spring.
The playground includes basketball courts, a community garden, play space, dog run and a greenhouse.
