BRT route proposed for airport: Document

Calgary Transit has plans for two express buses to shuttle passengers to and from Calgary International Airport, according to a document on its website.

According to Calgary Transit’s proposed airport service plan, the new Route 100 express will run from the airport terminals along Metis Trail and Country Hills Boulevard to the McKnight/Westwinds LRT station.

Route 57 will end at 78 Avenue, and there will be no change to Route 430, according to the document.

“This is going to be an improvement in service,” said Bob Hawkesworth, a vocal airport tunnel opponent and mayoral candidate, adding his estimate on capital cost would be around $10 million.

“This is considerably cheaper than anything folks are talking about when it comes to tunnels and LRT extensions.”
