Bruins oust Sabres in 6

After being on the wrong side of the handshake line at the Garden last year and in 2004, the Bruins finally finished a playoff foe at home last night.

Boston rode a three-point night by David Krejci to a 4-3 victory over the Sabres in Game 6 of their first-round series. It was the Bruins’ first series-clinching win at home since 1999.

The ongoing Montreal-Washington series will determine the B’s second-round foe. If Washington wins Game 7 at home, Boston will play Pittsburgh. If the Habs pull the upset, the B’s will host Philadelphia.

Krejci opened the scoring 13:39 into the first period last night, tipping home a feed from Mark Recchi. They swapped roles in the second period, with Krejci setting up Recchi’s third goal of the playoffs to double Boston’s lead.

After a Patrick Kaleta goal narrowed Buffalo’s deficit to 2-1, Krejci responded, snapping home a feed from Milan Lucic at 7:18 of the third.

BC product Nathan Gerbe seized the momentum back for Buffalo less than 30 seconds later, firing a bullet past Tuukka Rask to make it 3-2.

But Miroslav Satan eased the tension of the Garden crowd with his second goal of the playoffs, knocking home the eventual game-winner with 5:11 to play.
