Bryan Barbieri of Revere Hotel runs down your week ahead

Bryan Barbieri - Outdoor shot Bryan Barbieri is the director of PR at Revere Hotel.

We asked director of PR at Revere Hotel and man-in-the-know Bryan Barbieri to run down our upcoming Best Week Ever.

Says Bryan: “If there’s one thing I’m an expert on it’s horror movies, or bad reality TV, but this week I’ll help navigate you through the week ahead with my picks for some quirky — and not to be missed — happenings around the hub. Ignore your friends who flee down to the Cape every weekend, or your even fancier friends who sail off to Nantucket dressed in shorts with tiny red lobsters on them … They’re missing out on these super summer treats.”

FRIDAY
The Floating Fetish Ball 2013
9 p.m.
70 Rowes Wharf, Boston
$40, tffb2013.eventbrite.com

Arghhh! You’ll find plenty of pleather-clad pirates at the third annual Floating Fetish Ball, a three-hour booze cruise around Boston harbor. The dress code is gothy, but just think “ManRay of the high seas” and you should be all set. Who knew Boston had a freakishly fun event such as this!

Sneaker Museum: Fresh Friday Party
7 p.m.
Find & Form Studios
524 Harrison Ave., Boston
Free, facebook.com/sneakermuseum

Listen up, sneakerheads! The Sneaker Museum is a new entity launching in Boston that is all about, you guessed it, kicks! The museum digs its heels into the heritage of sneaker culture through a permanent collection of rare Air Jordan kicks, artistic exhibitions, educational programs and a unique online experience. So get fresh, peep some art and kicks, and experience a taste of what they have in store-age! Join them for an artful evening, get an exclusive look at the new website, and meet the masterminds behind the online experience.

‘The Faculty’
11:59 p.m.
Coolidge Corner Theatre
290 Harvard St., Brookline
$9.25, coolidge.org

Remember when Josh Hartnett was a ’90s teen heartthrob? Remember when teen horror movies ruled the box office? Head down to Coolidge for some extraterrestrial horror delight that is “The Faculty.” Parasitic squid-nasties from space turn high school faculty into slower-moving, sexier, more murderous version of themselves. Cue the hot girl (Jordana Brewster), the nerd (Elijah Wood) and the burnout (Josh Hartnett) to stop the insanity. And you thought your high school teachers were bad!

SATURDAY
Pride Block Party: Back Bay Edition
noon-8 p.m., Free
St. James Ave., Boston
bostonpride.org

Saturday is the Boston Pride parade — a glitter-filled festivity that marches from the South End down to City Hall Plaza in a celebration of all things LGBT. After the parade, I will be marching right over to the Pride Block Party. DJs, dancing and drinking right in the heart of Back Bay. It’s great energy and hopefully doesn’t get rained out!

SUNDAY
Rooftop @ Revere
11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Revere Hotel
200 Stuart St., Boston
$30, Free after 4 p.m.
RevereHotel.com/Rooftop

I must give a shout out to the Rooftop @ Revere, the new rooftop bar and lounge outside the hotel’s indoor swimming pool. Rooftop @ Revere is opening to the public on weekends, beginning at 11 a.m., for $30 per person. It’s a day of sunning, sipping and swimming right in the center of city. Think chaise lounge chairs, frozen cocktails and mini lobster rolls. Or you can rally a group of friends and rent out a cabana. Plus, you can check out pieces from art collective, The iNDiViDUALS, which was curated by Lot F Gallery. If you don’t want to splurge and spend the $30 dollars, come after 4 p.m. when it’s free entry.

MONDAY

306 Northern Ave., Boston
$75, 617-427-5200
my.gbfb.org/events/kc-summer-2013/event-registration-form-kc-summer-13

What’s better than drinking for a good cause? Kick off summer with the Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual Step Into Summer fundraiser event Harpoon! Snack on complimentary bites and drink freshly brewed Harpoon beer in the name of ending hunger in Boston. The event is from 6:30–8:30 p.m., so you can catch a buzz before bed. It is Monday, after all.

TUESDAY
‘In the Heights’
Through June 30
Calderwood Pavilion
527 Tremont St., Boston
617-266-0800

“In the Heights” is a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that is making a short run here in Boston. This saucy show centers around three days in Washington Heights, a vibrant NYC neighborhood full of colorful characters. The music is stellar and the cast is talented. Dream big, people… and always support the arts!

WEDNESDAY
The Postal Service
Bank of American Pavilion
290 Northern Ave., Boston
7:30 p.m., $40-$45
ticketmaster.com

The Postal Service is an electronic indie rock group that makes some pretty amazing music. They took a musical break, so this is a reunion tour — or a chance to familiarize yourself with them if you aren’t already a fan. The Pavilion also happens to be my favorite venue in the city. An outdoor venue, right on the water, near plenty of surrounding bars and restaurants in the seaport where you can grab a pre- or post-show drink and dinner. Fun Fact: Jenny Lewis will be performing. Yes, that Jenny Lewis from Troop Beverly Hills! #BestMovie

THURSDAY
Soloist & A Cappella Auditions for Outside the Box

Paramount Theatre
667 East Broadway, Boston
10 a.m.-1 p.m.
bit.ly/11sfqhK

Do you sing karaoke? Do you sing in the shower and tell yourself you are amazingly talented and should be on “The Voice”/”X Factor”/”American Idol”/whatever else I am being sucked into watching? You’re in luck! Put your singing chops to the test at this open competition for soloists and a cappella groups. Winners will have the opportunity to perform live before thousands during the inaugural Outside The Box performing arts festival, July 13–21 on Boston Common and at City Hall Plaza. Celebrity judges include “Idol” alum and local gal, Siobhan Magnus. Contestants can preregister at auditions@outsidetheboxboston.org or register onsite on the morning of auditions.
