Melania Trump and son Barron will not be living in, or anywhere near the White House after Donald J. Trump is inaugurated in January, the New York Post reported Sunday.

The future first lady and the president-elect’s 10-year-old son will remain in New York City, living at the gilded Trump Tower.

A source told the newspaper the reason that they will not be relocating to Washington is because Barron will continue to attend Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on the Upper West Side where he is in the fourth grade.

“Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign,” said a source close to Trump’s transition team. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”

The source said that she’s a devoted mother and frequently picks him up and drops him off at the private school, which is said to cost $40,000 a year in tuition.

Another unnamed source told the Post that Barron and the future first lady might move into the White House when his school year is over, and in the meantime will travel to the capital when needed.

Trump Tower will have significantly increased security and Secret Service presence, and measures will be taken every day to make sure the school and the route are safe. Barron will be taken to school in an armored vehicle, Trump transition sources said.

“That building is going to become the White House of New York,” said Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina told the New York Post.
