Burned remains identified as mother of four

Police have identified the charred remains of a body found in a Surrey ravine as a 34-year-old mother of four.

Tara Lynn Westgarde was last seen by a family member on the morning of Nov. 11, two days before her badly burned body was found by passersby near 138 Street and 93 Avenue.

“Police have learned some information about the victim, however (we) require assistance from the community to narrow down the time she was last seen alive,” said RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr.

“We are releasing a photo of the victim … in hopes that someone will be able to provide us information.”

Carr said Westgarde was known to several British Columbia police forces for her alleged involvement in fraud, property crime and the drug trade.

“Investigators are of the belief that this incident was not a random act,” he said.

Carr said Westgarde sometimes used the surname Fedorick and went by the first name Tiara.

Her cause of death has not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or, to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers.
