Burrows eyeing better transit around airport

Mayoral candidate Craig Burrows released his first major infrastructure plan yesterday, calling for better transportation routes around the airport.

Burrows said that construction of an airport tunnel underneath a proposed runway connecting northeast communities to the airport is a necessity because as of April 2011, Barlow Trail will be closed from 48th Avenue NE to Airport Trail.

“We need to build a tunnel today that will accommodate all transportation,” he said.

Burrows said that construction of the tunnel should not be put off by the city and should be built at the same time as the runway.

“It needs to be done, so I say let’s get it done right the first time,” said Burrows.
