A Mattapan teen who was trying to relax on his T bus ride home Monday night by shutting his eyes and listening to music turned into a victim of an attempted iPod theft.
“He stated his eyes were closed but he was not asleep, and he felt someone reach into his front left jacket pocket and snatch his iPod,” according to a police report.
The teen then saw the man flee from the bus as it traveled through Mattapan. The teen chased the suspect and both were stopped by Boston police who saw them running.
When police were questioning him, the suspect said he knew the victim and he was only kidding.
The teen said he did not know the alleged thief.
Police then arrested Luckner Pierre, 21, of Jamaica Plain, and charged him with larceny.
When officers searched him, they allegedly found marijuana on him and gave him a citation.
More T trouble
Transit police also busted a 25-year-old Haverhill woman Monday night for allegedly fare evading.
The officers were in plain clothes looking for fare evaders at Back Bay station when they saw a man “piggy back” on a paying customer. The man then returned to the fare gate to open it for the woman, Rachel Greenwood, and she avoided the fare.
Police stopped the duo and it was discovered that Greenwood had warrants for crimes including larceny over $250 and check forgery.
