Calgarian could be sexiest candidate

He went toe-to-toe with the prime minister in a battle of looks and didn’t even blink.

Now, Scott Milton is among the finalists to be crowned Canada’s sexiest election candidate.

The online competition, launched by Toronto blogger Zach Bussey in early April in hopes of stirring up interest in the current federal campaign, pits 32 men and 32 women against each other in a no-holds barred battle of glam.

Milton, a Green party candidate in Calgary East, toppled Stephen Harper with 89 per cent of the vote in the second round.

He is now a member of the five-candidate men’s final along with Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and fellow Grit Justin Trudeau among others.

“It’s been a pleasure, it’s very flattering,” Milton said. “(When) so many people from coast-to-coast, not just in Calgary, have voted for you, it’s very exciting.”

Reached by email yesterday, Bussey said Milton has a solid chance at earning the crown as Canada’s sexiest candidate.

“Scott has had a real grassroots movement behind him even before he was aware the contest existed,” Bussey said.

In the women’s competition, NDP candidate Nadine Bailey, running in Edmonton Mill Woods-Beaumont, is the lone Albertan remaining.

Voting runs until 10 a.m. locally Friday.
