Exploring a variety of Canadian content with humour has garnered Calgary’s own Mike’s Bloggity Blog four honours at the Canadian Blog Awards.
Mike Morrison has been blogging Mike’s Bloggity Blog from Calgary for four years now, and over the weekend he won Best Blog Post, Best Humour Blog, Best Popular Culture and Best Overall.
“I think part of my success is because I focus on Canadian stuff and tend to stay away from the celebrity tabloid stuff,” Morrison said.
“The blog has become bigger than I ever dreamed it would.”
Mike’s Bloggity Blog garnered attention by focusing on the Junos, the Geminis and other Canadian events people talk about.
Morrison said he spends a lot of time immersing himself in popular culture through Twitter, press releases and even funny commercials, so he always has something to write about.
“At first I thought it would be hard to find enough content, but it’s actually been really interesting. It turns out it’s actually quite easy to stick with Canadian.”
