With the iPad set to hit Canada tomorrow, Calgary stores are preparing for the rush.
Apple’s newest product will officially go on sale at 8 a.m. and there are sure to be lineups at Apple retailers, Best Buy and Future Shop stores across the city.
“It’s just like any other exclusive launch, we’ll probably have some people lined up before the doors open,” said Vincent, a manager at the Heritage Meadows Future Shop.
While the Apple store will be opening early on Friday, Future Shop will be opening at their regular time of 10 a.m.
Although the iPad has been available in the United States for nearly two months, Canadians have had to wait.
Self-professed “hardcore Apple user” Duane Sharman decided to avoid the lines and pre-ordered the iPad on May 10, the first day pre-ordering was available in Canada.
“I got the email telling me yesterday that it’s shipped, so I’m hoping for a UPS guy at the door any moment now,” he said.
Sharman said he has yet to try the iPad, but was confident that he wouldn’t be disappointed with the Apple product.
“I’ve seen a couple of them when I was travelling, but I haven’t been rude enough to actually go up and ask someone if I can try it,” he joked.
Apple has not released the number of iPads that will be available in Canada.
