Calgary Transit seeking young artists’ designs for new passes

Calgary Transit is putting their future in the hands of the city’s youth.

They’re asking any child from Grade 1 through 12 to submit a design for upcoming transit passes.

“Our children and youth are our future, and they have some great ideas,” said Andrew Phung, program director for Child and Youth Friendly Calgary, a Calgary Transit partner.

“Since many of them use Calgary Transit every day, we thought it would be appropriate for them to have a say in something that impacts the entire city.”

Designs may be based on themes that include “Transit into the Future,” “Going Green with Calgary Transit,” “Calgary Transit and Me,” and “Transit Connects Communities.”

They will be used on passes from September 2009 to December 2010.
