Cambridge cabbies striking Monday

Boston cabs.

If you’re looking to hail a cab in Cambridge on Monday you might be out of luck.

Fed up with the Uber-sized issues that come with regulations for ride-sharing services, taxi drivers in the city will be on strike all day, beginning at 4 a.m., according to reports.

Cabbies around the world have long said services like Uber and Lyft, which let users order on-demand rides using smartphones, are putting them out of business.

The planned strike is meant to pressure lawmakers to force the services to play by the same rules as traditional cabs when it comes to insurance, background checks and training, the Boston Globe reported on Saturday.

Not a cab customer? You may still feel the impact of the action because taxi drivers could band together and block streets, the Globe reported.

Taxi drivers in Boston rallied on the same issue in December, calling on lawmakers to regulate ridesharing apps in front of City Hall.
