Canucks lose in shootout

Ducks 6 – Canucks 5 (SO)

The Skinny: Corey Perry scored the shootout winner and Jonas Hiller stopped all three Vancouver shooters as the Ducks won for the ninth time in 11 games. Five different Canucks tallied in regulation after a wild affair that saw ten goals scored in the first 37 minutes. The Canucks did clinch a playoff spot by picking up a single point in the loss.

The Calendar:
Vancouver’s 11-game home winning streak is over. The Canucks won every home game in February and March, but have not won a single contest at the Garage in either January or April, though the month is still young.

The Catch of The Day: After Daniel Sedin’s power-play goal gave the Canucks a 4-2 lead in the second period, a fan tossed a decent-sized salmon on the ice to celebrate.

The Scraps:
It’s been a while since there were three fights in the same game at GM Place. Darcy Hordichuk and George Parros started things off, Rick Rypien outduked Sheldon Brookbank, and Shane O’Brien squared off with former Canuck Mike Brown.

The Rating:
Lots of goals and fights, but a number of the goals were sloppy. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Next Game: It’s back on the road as the Canucks head to Edmonton for their final meeting of the season with the Oilers.
