Workers at Danish brewery Carlsberg went on strike last week in protest against their company’s new policy on alcohol in the workplace. From now on they will only be allowed to drink one beer during their breakfast break.
It wasn’t an April Fool’s prank when the management of Carlsberg decided to implement its new alcohol policy. The brewery workers previously were allowed up to three beers during a workday.
In the good old days, Carlsberg staff could drink as much beer as they could stomach, but the limit shrunk through the years. Most breweries allow their employees to drink a little during their workday, and the workers’ association wants to keep this tradition.
