That’s right, the megastar is a Philadelphia native. He was born on January 5, 1975. He describes Philadelphia as a “very idiosyncratic” city. “I have a tremendous amount of pride because my family’s roots are embedded in Philly.”
He spent a lot of time in Jenkintown growing up
Cooper has reminisced about his childhood being a Philadelphia native and his old stomping grounds “I would just come out of my house and just walk, which my mother hated, ’cause she thought it was so dangerous” on the nearby railroad tracks. “And movies like ‘Platoon,’ or especially ‘Stand by Me,’ ’cause ‘Stand by Me’ was all about train tracks with these kids. And so me and my friends would pretend we were in ‘Stand by Me.'”
He worked in Philly
One of the more unknown facts about Bradley Cooper is that for a while Cooper worked for the Philadelphia Daily News as an intern. Although his career in the news didn’t pan out, he’s done pretty well as an actor so far.
He played an Eagles fan in Silver Linings Playbook
Cooper played Pat Solitano, a bipolar former teacher who’s released from a mental hospital and returns home to his parents’ house in Philadelphia. Pat is an avid Eagles fan along with his father who is insanely superstitious and even has the remotes facing a certain way during each game. The climax of the movie even involves football. Cooper’s character states at the beginning and the end of the film that “Sunday is my favorite day of the week”. As a true Philadelphia native, it’s believable. When asked if he was nervous at first when he accepted the role he replied “Yeah, I was scared. I couldn’t see myself in the role. And I think I was wrong because I’ve never felt more comfortable than as Pat.”
He was at the Superbowl when the Eagles one
Cooper not only played an Eagles fanatic, but he is an Eagles fanatic. He made sure to be in attendance for the Super Bowl LII to watch the incredible victory that made history. The Philadelphia Eagles won the Superbowl for the first time in history (against the Patriots) and Cooper was more than excited for the victory.
