Celtics blow 21-point lead, fall to Pistons

Even with trade rumors circulating all day surrounding a few members of the Celtics, the team actually had their best first quarter of the season, scoring 42 points and led 42-23 after one, but the Pistons came storming back in the second and third quarters to set up a back-and-forth fourth quarter with the Pistons ultimately coming out on top, 107-106 Wednesday night at TD Garden.

The Celtics actually had a chance for the win, but a Jeff Green off-balance layup, falling away from the basket wouldn't fall, giving the Pistons the win. It was a very balanced scoring night as the C's had seven players reach double figures, led by Jared Sullinger's 19 points. Jordan Crawford added 17 while Avery Bradley finished with 14. As a team the Celtics shot just under 50 percent from the floor, but it wasn't enough.

Brandon Jennings led the Pistons with 28 points.

The Celtics will be back in action Saturday afternoon (1:00, CSNNE) back at TD Garden when they host the Wizards.

What they'll be saying: Brandon Bass and Courtney Lee have been rumored to be going to Houston along with a future first-round pick in exchange for center Omer Asik, but despite the rumors both players were in action with Bass scoring 11 and Lee added 10 off the bench. The C's turned the ball over 18 times in the loss and once again could not hold on to a big lead, something that has happened on numerous occasions this season.
