Celtics lose six games to lockout … at least

Commissioner David Stern canceled the first two weeks of the NBA season late last night, pushing the 2011-12 opener to Nov. 15 — at best.

If the sides can’t come to an agreement soon, more games could be on the chopping block.

Locally, the two-week move will cost the Celtics six games — three home, three away. They were scheduled to open the season Nov. 2 against Cleveland, and return to the Garden Nov. 9 for a two-game homestand against Charlotte and Blake Griffin’s Clippers. All three are gone.

Likewise, the C’s won’t need to make trips to Atlanta (Nov. 4), Indiana (Nov. 5) and Cleveland (Nov. 12).

If those two weeks are all that’s canceled, Boston will be hurt worse than most teams. Atlanta and Los Angeles are decent matchups, but the two games against the Cavaliers were pretty much sure victories — and Charlotte isn’t much better.
