Celtics: Rondo suspended (again) for bumping NBA referee

The NBA announced just four hours prior to the Celtics showdown with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden Monday that point guard Rajon Rondo would be suspended one game for “making contact with a game official” during Saturday’s 89-81 win over the Hawks in Atlanta.

After being called for an offensive foul with 3:19 left in the third quarter, Rondo lightly bumped referee Rodney Mott’s left shoulder with his chest while disputing the call. The Celtics point guard had an incident, also in Atlanta, in last year’s playoffs when he bumped referee Marc Davis. He was suspended one game.

This past November, Rondo was docked two games by the league for a shoving match with Brooklyn’s Kris Humphries. He also earned a two game suspension last February for throwing a basketball at referee Sean Wright in Detroit.
